Meaning
Pallavi:
I think of the form of Mahalinga; The form of Cit(consciousness); The noble:
Anupallavi:
The eternal one who dwells in the city of Madhyarjuna; The consort of Brhatkuchamba; the one who shows the path in the right manner to those intimate devotees of His; The slayer(antaka) of antaka (yama); The primordial one who helps cross the ocean of samsara; The one who removes the sin such as killing or hatya*; The slayer of the puras;
Charanam:
The one worshipped by Indra - slayer of PAka - and other devas; The one who protects Vishnu & other devotees;
The lotus feet which removes sorrows; The auspicious; The abode of mercy; The one who (has as parivAra sthalas/devatas) - The somaskanda at Tiruvarur;
The blissful dancer the Lord of Cidambaram; The Lord of Kali-bhairava ; The one who has skanda-guruguha at Swamimalai.

* hatyAdi pApa haram
This is a reference to the legend of King Varaguna Pandya being given moksha after Brahmahatthi or
killing of a brahmana. The king unknowingly ran over a brahmana and was afflicted by Brahma hathi
dosha. He came to this temple and the brahmahathi sin awaited him near the main entrance to afflict
him when he came out from the temple. The Lord advised the king to leave by the West Gate to by pass the Brahma hatya. Hence to this day it is
believed that people can enter the temple by any gate but not leave by the Main entrance.
* The last line is a reference to the parivAra sthalas around the area.
The following temples around this are said to constitute the parivara sthalas to Madhyarjuna or Tiruvidaimarudhur(a group of temples):

Interestingly Dikshitar mentions only a select few among those perhaps alluding to those shrines he has visited/composed:
Tyagarajaswami Temple in Tiruvarur(Kamalapura somAskandam), Swamimalai(Svamishaila guruguha skandam),
Cidambaram (cidambarESvara naTanAnandaM), Sirgazhi dedicated to
Bhairava (kALIsa bhairava spandam).
* Tiruvidaimarudhur is also known as Madhyarjuna. The northern arjuna kshetra(arjuna=maruda tree) is the mallikArjuna at Srisailam in Andra pradesh.
The southern arjuna kshetra is the 'putArjuna' kshetra or tiruppudai marudUr. The middle one being the madhyArjuna or tiruvidai marudUr
the third most important shiva shrine after cidambaram & tiruvArUr.These 3 temples have been the favourities of the early chozha kings.
* The sUcita raga mudra occurs at antaranga bhakta janAnAm atisamIpa Rju mArga darSitam. rju means in the right manner . mArga means path
